Subject: Hot show!
One of my favorite moe. shows. I had a blast at both of these. Love the Rebub that gets things started out right. The Hi-Lo>Head really capped off a nice first set. To start the 2nd set, Moth>Bullet>Brent Black had the room rocking hard. Bullet was still pretty new at the time and laid it back with it's nice spacey groove. Brent Black just kept building and building, I thought the peak could have been a little more searing guitar but it was still good with an extra long drums in there. That combo is still one of my all time favorite musical moe.ments. They mellowed things out a bit with the Tambourine. I think everyone including the band needed a breather after what just went down. Rec Chem was a great way and perfect ending to this fine show. Not the best version of all time but a rocking one nonetheless. Harder they come is not one of my favorite covers, that they do, but it was still good(I always compare anyone doing this song to Garcia's version).

Anyways grab this show you won't be disappointed. I have turned quite a few people onto moe. with this show.

Subject: Friday Night in Asheville
The second night was the better of the (10/2-3/03) asheville run. The first set is top notch moe. The gin tease is unreal, you can hear the roof explode on this recording. The crowd energy is captured nicely on this recording. The highlight of the second set is when Al popped a string and a brief "drums" ensues and rob picks up his water bottle and starts blowing on it. Al quickly restrings and the whole band starts to jam out to the key of the water bottle, the crowd goes nuts. Of course, on this recording the water bottle is barely audible.

Notes

* Low Rider & Bathtub Gin teases.
